It's 6.30am on Friday the 19th of September. I was severely deprived of sleep, two days worth to be roughly exact, I hadn't eaten because the travel company doesn't seem to think vegetarians deserve food, and I was completely rushed off my feet trying to get my suitcase safe and through customs. I had just arrived back in Glasgow airport from a family vacation in Turkey, excited as ever because I was heading off to Dundee to join Bodies on their Scotland A Go Go tour.
I arrive at Glasgow bus station, grabbed some breakfast, met Friona briefly before she got her bus to Dundee. She told me all about the band playing in Rockers the night before, showed me pictures, videos and filling me in on all the gossip (Clint cut his hair?!!!!!), it brung my excitment right up to exploding point.
Heading to Dundee (finally, the bus station had to be evacuated) I'm texting Fiona and Clint (mostly telling Clint he is getting a slap for cutting his hair off), I arrive at the same time as Fiona. Booked ourselves into the hostel, went for a quick pint (I ended up downing Fiona's too) and headed up to bash the band's door down and attack Clint for his hair.
Quick banter and a Rockstar Energy drink later, we head up to Hustlers. The guys get a shound check, we finally meet Dave (to whom I have been talking to on Myspace for a while and had no idea), chat with The Eddies and another drink later Fiona and I head to grab the camera. Hearing Bodies play while you're down the street was brilliant.
Food, drink and another venue to watch another band (totally killer by the way) we find our way back to Hustlers to attempted suicide caused by the first band. Now I won't judge music genre, I like it all, but PLEASE?!!! Bodies then took the stage, and having never seen them play before, I was all up for it! Fiona, a girl called Tasha who I'd never met, and I boogied and jumped around to the beat loving ever second of it. With Clint not having the ability to stay on stage, he came down and did some boogying with us, whilst Dave being amazed by his natural ability of getting the crowd going. With the guys playing top notch, their music booming over Dundee, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and I could honestly say I've never been to such a mind blowing gig. I knew they where good but DAMN! It was amazing, and I'm still in aw over that show. With The Eddies headlining, they proudly take the stage after Bodies, and rip it up like they always do, people jumping and dancing to their hearts content.
After selling some merch (which at one point involved me giving everyone hugs and one guy my phone number), we head off. I got my hat stolen, and yes I'm still fucking heartbroken but what can you do? Wish I'd knocked the shit out of that thingy but I behaved. We go down to Cage and dance like no one's watching. Clint doesn't, he doesn't dance unless he's onstage. After an amazing night, Nick starts singing his Christmas songs........ time to hit the sack.
"GOODMORNING SUNSHINE" I do believe was the first thing I said to a German guy that we where sharing a room with. Washed, packed, fed, the guys head up to Aberdeen whilst Fiona and I spend about an hour in a seriously awesome record store. Time to get the bus, we keep repeating the previous nights events.
After an hours sleep on the bus, I wake up to find we have just arrived in Aberdeen. "Oh fuck I'm back" was the first thing I thought of and said, Fiona happily laughing at how much I really don't like the place. Up in Fiona's flat I steal half her wardrobe, since I ran out of clothes. Some food, poster hunting, romantic walks on the beach..............*laughs in rememberance*, we head to the Moorings, "now this is home" is what runs through my mind. All our friends turn up and having not seen any of them in a month, we had the biggest banter ever.
Cobra Kai head on stage. I like their music, talented people. Deadloss Motherfucking Superstar proper rip it up, never disapoint, getting the croud pumpin' for Bodies.
A bigger croud, louder, scene, our guys hit the stage and I am actually going to say this, OH MY FUCKING GOD! I was completely blown away again! A smaller stage than Hustlers, Clint is already off, singing in people's faces while they are loving ever minute. So much energy was flowing through the room amazing and exciting doesn't even begin to explain.
The guys come off stage, I turn to Fiona. She has such a look in her eyes and I knew exactly what was running through her mind; they where going home tomorrow, and they had just given us the best days ever.
With the guys heading to bed for their early flight, all of us Aberdeen crew head to Moorings, which has changed so much that I will most likely never go there again. Even then, laughing and joking and telling all our friends everything, nothing could change it. We head back to Fiona's. I completely KO near as soon as we get in, dreaming of 'if only'......
"EIGHT IN THE MORNING! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!!!"
I'm not a morning person, especially after being so exhausted. Up, dressed, grab all my things and leg it to the train station to say our goodbyes. With Nick singing, John a bit too happy for morning, Clint's leather hugs and Hans getting stuck in the barrier....... I think you could understand. Fiona and I stay to see the train off singing Christmas songs and boogying.
The train leaves.
All through our depressed breakfast and shopping, we are fighting to hold back the tears. We both get a text from Clint, smiles are brought back to Fiona and Pippin's faces.
We all went our seperate ways. The guys where off home to Sweden, Fiona was on her way back down to Glasgow and I, well I thought it best to see my parents. So the bus to Cruden Bay it was for me, the water works kicked in for the whole journey. Glad to finally crawl into bed, laying there wondering where everyone is and what they're doing as sleep finally comes over me, letting the relationship between music and people take it's course.
